MISTER MINIT
How MISTER MINIT extended its range

The success of the early "Talon Minute" heel bars was gratifying, but only went to show that the formula of efficient service “while you wait” would be very welcome in other types of repair. It was frustrating to have to turn away customers who wanted other services so the services were extended to provide exactly that.

And when, in the mid sixties, the fall from fashion of the stiletto hell was having its effect on our sales figures for shoes repairs, the company already possessed the infrastructure necessary to introduce other services.

So MISTER MINIT extended his range of skills to include key-duplicating: a very basic service at first, concentrating on the popular range of household keys. Once again, however, the policy was to progress towards providing the kind of full key service the company offers today, where the vast majority of keys presented by our customers can be duplicated at the shops, with only rare and unusual keys having to be sent away.

A kind of unofficial company policy was emerging 'Try to provide as complete a service as possible, so that we never have to turn a customer away'.

What we consider important 30 years ago is more than a reality today!

A customer who has to look elsewhere to get a service done, for example, an unusual key duplicated, may well take his more routine business elsewhere too.

By the mid sixties the range of services offered included sharpening (knives, scissors, skates, etc.) and machine engraving. Other services were introduced at various stages, but only those for which there was evident popular demand were retained.

By the1970's MISTER MINITwas offering rubber stamps and nametapes, both for private and commercial use.

In 1980, MISTER MINIT added printing and photo to its service range and by the 1990’s watch battery as well as watch strap replacement. It is largely through this policy of seeking out new ways of serving the customer, and then working to provide that service rapidly and efficiently, that we are in the healthy position we find ourselves in today.
